THE LUCKY STAR HORSEMANSHIP PROGRAM
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION
Lucky Star Horsemanship’s Lessons, Workshops and Clinics are unique in that they are sculpted to the needs of the Participant depending on the horse they have “that day”, their goals and the needs within the partnership. While we do cover broad spectrum concepts, it is in the application of said concept in harmony with the needs of the particular horse that makes the difference.
LESSONS & WORKSHOPS
IN A LESSON: The first lesson is really about “evaluation” of the partnership. A Lesson has no more than two (2) Participants. This is done through a series of groundwork and under saddle (if applicable) exercises. A program is then developed for the Participants in that lesson. Participants will receive, via email, a recap of the lesson and “homework” to focus on between lessons. Lessons are two (plus) hours in length. Base cost per Lesson Participant is $65.00.
IN A WORKSHOP: Workshops are done in a small group of at least three (3) and no more than four (4) Participants. A basic “theme” or “focus” for the workshop is established before the session begins. This is done through email and phone conversations. All workshops begin with a series of groundwork exercises that will help to improve communication, focus and control. Under saddle exercises will focus on the needs of the Participants and their horses. Participants will receive, via email, a recap of the lesson and “homework” to focus on. Workshops are four hours in length, Base price per Workshop Participant is $70.00. Auditors (if applicable) are $10.00.
CLINICS & EVALUATIONS
IN A CLINIC: Clinics are done is a small group of at least four (4) and no more than eight (8) Participants. Clinics can have a primary focus or can be structured to fit the needs of the group. All clinics begin with a series of groundwork exercises that will help improve communication, focus, control as well as improving the human’s “timing and feel” in order to be a better partner for their horse. Under saddle exercises will help to improve cues, performance, control and a wide variety of horsemanship/partnership aspects particular to the Particular and their horses. Clinics are at least six (6) hours in length, Participants and Auditors will get lunch. Participants also get a copy of the Cooperative Horsemanship booklet. Base price per Clinic Participant is $75.00. Auditors (if applicable) are $10.00
IN AN EVALUATION: If you are thinking of buying a horse, or you have recently brought a horse home and are unsure of it's foundation then an Evaluation is for you. This three (3) hour session will evaluate the horse's mind, level of training, attitude and learning aptitude. With groundwork and some under saddle work (if applicable) we can get a clear picture of the horse you have "today" and determine if it is a good fit for you and what your next steps should be. Base price for an Evaluation is $100.00
NEW PROGRAM FOR 2019: PRACTICAL HORSEMANSHIP
Practical Horsemanship I is the first part of a training program series for the Equine Professional who works with horses and the general public. As an Equine Professional you will need to be very vigilant in the care and maintenance of the horses, their gear and even the guests. You will be perceived as the “expert” and your interactions/communications and actions will carry a great deal of weight with guests and staff alike! Keep this in mind! The training will cover a variety of topics such as equine inspection, tack fit and maintenance, foundation building groundwork, communication with guests and other valuable skills that would improve operations, equine health and overall guest experience. The program will consist of lecture/demonstration, hands on practice and a series of short articles to be used by the participants of this program.
This program is taught at your facility. Each session is between 3-4 hours. Each Participant is given hands-on instruction and a study guide to help them really integrate the training into their jobs and daily operations. For more information on having L.S.H. come to your facility to lead PRACTICAL HORSEMANSHIP I please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
AT YOUR SESSION
THINGS TO BRING
At your Lesson, Workshop or Clinic we recommend making sure your tack, saddle and training gear are in good working order. We ask that you take a few moments to help prepare you and your horse for success. Be sure that your horse is feeling good too!
We recommend the following "training gear" be utilized in your Lesson, Workshop or Clinic:
- Rope Halter (a good, stiff rope halter will last for years and is an effective training tool)
- 10-15 foot lead rope (the more life/feel in the rope, the better)
- Training Stick/ Lunge Whip (we like a stiffer stick with a 5-6 foot "string" on it.
- Smooth Snaffle Bit
- Leg Boots (optional)
If you have any questions about the recommended training gear please EMAIL us at email@example.com
